Woody's Corner is where I'm going to share some of these memories of things that have happened to me and my family and friends. Some stories haven't happened yet, but as soon as they happen, I will post them on them web from Aniak, Alaska.
Woody's corner on most days is the most beautiful place on earth, or it can be the most dangerous. Woody's Corner is where I'm going to share some of these memories of things that have happened to me and my family and friends. Some stories haven't happened yet, but as soon as they happen, I will post them on them web from Aniak, Alaska.
My wife and I are home alone now. We have raised 3 beautiful daughters that are off on their own lives now. And they are doing very well for themselves. The oldest is Shigone. She is in Kuwait for 1 year working as a parametic and lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband, Danesh. Dia, the middle daughter, lives in Anchorage working as a preschool instructor and haves two sons. Karrina just moved out on her own is going to college at University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Many of you know her and her friend, Caroline, who have worked in camp for many years. Karrina is studying to be a radiology tech and doing very well in her second year. My wife, Jeannie, works for the state and helps out a lot and plays a big part in Hook-M-Up; from editor to chief cook to fishing license vendor to her own business selling beads and beadwork.
It's a different way of life here on the island. We generate our own electricity and have a battery backup system that gives us a great return on our electricty . We have a dish for T.V., a dish for internet and an antenna telephone radio -- no wires and yet we are hooked to the rest of the world. We also burn firewood to heat our 3-bedroom house which is a little tough when it's -20 to -60 below 0.
I think the best part of living here is we get to share it with people all over the world. It's really amazing how you get people to fish when they don't even speak English. In fact, some of our clients have even been legally blind and caught many King Salmon. They could not believe how big they were because they could only "see" by feeling them. They were really amazed at some moose antlers at 68"wide. Wow!..
I have many stories that I have personally experienced in the twenty-two years here in the bush 318 miles away from any road, gravel or paved. Some are so crazy, you would think that they could only be a figment of your imagination.
