Winter comes to Alaska in early April and in June the mighty King Salmon enter the Kuskokwim River on their annual migration up stream to their spawning beds. In mid June the King Salmon start entering the tributaries such as the Aniak River, Holitina River, and the Hoholitina all of Southwest Alaska through Aniak. Not only the King Salmon are plentiful but the Chum Salmon, Sockey Salmon, and Pink Salmon are too. The real bonus is all the other species you can catch on your fly rod even if you are a beginner. Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Char, Grayling, Northern Pike, and the famous Shee fish (Tarpin of the north) are just waiting for you . Spike Camps available as an option for your adventure.

In the summer the Kuskokwim turns into quite a highway, whether they are King Salmon or Silver Salmon on their way to the spawning beds or the Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Char looking for a school of salmon to follow, the next meal will be egg and flesh patterns from the awaiting fly fisherman.

In late July the Silver Salmon (Coho) arrive. If you are a fly fisherman this is the time for you, the Silver Salmon are very aggressive on the fly. By this time the Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Char, and Grayling have doubled their weight and are a real challenge to catch on your fly rod. Sometimes in the summer we use a spike camp or do different types of campouts to insure you have the adventure you are expecting plus a lot more including a shore lunch.
